OTB CAPTAINS NATIONALS REPORT

I had the pleasure of spending time with our Minnow sailors for their Nationals at Lake Cootharaba QLD, where we saw some excellent sailing from Jack Graves, Sam Hannah Charlotte Llewelyn and Isabella Dixon, well done Jack on your overall performance and becoming the Minnow National Champion for 2009/2010. Also congratulations to Sam Hannah for taking out Junior Minnow Champion 2009/2010, both boys were chasing each other around the race track every time they hit the water and their sportsmanship was first class.

 

Some other special mentions, congratulations to Charlotte Llewelyn who showed that persistence can be rewarding and to Bella Dixon who came home on the last day like a train with some excellent sailing. Sarah Boyce also put in a gutsy performance with continual back problems which I personally witnessed it was a credit to Sarah to continue racing each day – well done Sarah.

 

Now to our Juniors Boys who made their first trip to a National Regatta outside of Victoria, well done to Jack Lewis, Hamish Fleetwood, Hugo Llewelyn, Oscar Phillip and Jackson Day(Novice Division) . All these boys enjoyed the experience and had a lot of fun believe me I witness it firsthand. This experience will give them great confidence when they travel again to another Nationals, they all perform well and learnt more about what is needed to be done to succeed in these types of sailing events.
