We celebrated the OTB sailors in the Members’ Lounge where the kids patiently listened and cheered on all the prize winners before tucking into their meals and enjoying a movie in the Sailing Centre. Earlier in the afternoon you may’ve seen groups of kids running around participating in a scavenger hunt. Thankfully we also had Fred Allen in attendance to present the Fred Allen series prize, plus Commodore Scott Llewelyn, Rear Commodore and Club Captain Richard Martin, Secretary Tim Collett and many other volunteers who have helped to run the OTB racing this season.

Ollie Schwarz was the worthy recipient of the Mike Haig Award. Mike Haig was a young club member and XY16 catamaran sailor who was tragically killed in an industrial accident in July 1973. His parents wished to donate a trophy to the club in honour of Mike and it was first awarded in 1973-74. The Mike Haig Memorial Trophy is now awarded to the club member between the ages 16 & 25 who has been assessed by the Flag Officers as having proved themselves the best club member, in that age group, in that season.
