We’re thrilled to welcome back to the sailing calendar (after a break of 103 years), The Sorrento Regatta, featuring The Peroni Sorrento Cup, over the weekend of 4th & 5th February 2017. This prestigious race was first sailed in 1892 in the waters off Sorrento, until 1914 when it ceased due to the commencement of WWI. SSCBC is fortunate to have the original silver cup, which has been loaned to the Club from the family of Erland Erlandsen, who was one of the winners of this coveted prize.
The details are:
Sat 4th Feb: The Peroni Sorrento Cup for Couta Boats in Div 1, Div 1.5 and Div 2.
Sun 5th Feb: Beach and aquatic events including some famous regatta favourites!
- 0930hrs Swim Races
Male and female races: 1.2km with beach finish, start off Erlandsen or Sisters (weather dependent)
Kids’ swim: one length of the jetty with beach finish
- 1030 – 1230hrs Andy’s Antics and Sandcastle Competition
- From 1230hrs BYO picnic / BBQ on Lavender Hill
