The 2026 Optimist Nationals took place in Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania.
Congratulations to Ace Hill, taking out the Opti Nationals in Green Fleet! Ace only started sailing in February 2025 through the Club’s TLC Healthcare after school sailing program and 11 months later, he has won the Optimist Nationals Green Fleet!
In the Intermediate Fleet, Charlie McLaren also enjoyed himself and learnt some great lessons. He placed 17th overall and 3rd under 10 year old. In the Open Fleet, Fred Cantwell and Theo Altson both made it to Gold Fleet and showed great moments in races. Balthazar Roche, a distant member who is mainly based in Woollahra Sailing Club has made Worlds team and placed 5th overall. Previous Junior Club Captain Tate Cantwell has had a rollercoaster regatta – his first day summed it up well with a 1st and UFD. He has placed 22nd overall.
Well done to all sailors and we look forward to welcoming you all back to SSCBC.
