Categories of Membership

MEMBER – previously “Ordinary Member”, is a person who is 30 years or older on the first day of the membership year (1 July) and whose membership has been approved by the Committee.

MEMBER (subsequent rate) – subsequent rate available to a Member who is 30 years or older on the first day of the membership year (1 July), married or in a de facto relationship with a Member and permanently residing at the same address and whose membership has been approved by the Committee.

YOUNG ADULT – A Young Adult Member is a person aged between 18 and 29 years on the first day of the membership year (1 July) and whose membership has been approved by the Committee.

YOUNG ADULT (concession rate) is a student aged between 18 and 29 years on the first day of the membership year (1 July), to qualify for the concession rate, the Young Adult (concession rate) Member must provide satisfactory evidence of full-time student status each year.

ABSENTEE MEMBERS – Members who, either for geographic or personal reasons, are unable to use the Club facilities and services, may elect to be Absentee Members. Absentee Members retain rights as Members except they are not entitled to access the Club facilities or participate in Club activities. An Absentee Member may request temporary access rights on an ad hoc basis by application to the Membership Manager and General Manager. If additional access is sought, the Absentee Member would be required to assume Member status and pay the difference between prevailing annual subscriptions.

JUNIOR – A Junior Member is aged up to 17 years on the first day of the membership year (1 July) and whose membership has been approved by the Committee.

HONORARY – Honorary Associate Membership may be granted to individuals at the discretion of the Committee based on satisfaction of any of the criteria set out below:
• past employees;
• current employees;
• past Members;
• sponsors;
• visitors to the Club for sailing events and regattas;
• Members of other sailing clubs where reciprocal arrangements are in place; and
• significant contribution to the sport of sailing.

Appointment of an Honorary Associate Member must be approved by the Committee.

LIFE MEMEBRS AND HONORARY LIFE MEMBERS – Rule 15 (3) provides that the Committee may approve for a member to be elected as a Life Member. Rule 15 (4) sets out the rights and obligations of a Life Member.

Rule 15 (5) and (6) provides for the nomination and election of Honorary Life Members of the Club. Rule 15 (7) sets out the rights and obligations of an Honorary Life Member.
