Opening Day 2018/19

A spectacular day was held on Saturday 17 November for the Opening Day of the season. The formal ceremony kicked off at 11am, with an address from Commodore Graham Cunningham, followed by the flag officer presentation.

Club Captain Scott Llewelyn then spoke about the season coming up and took great pleasure in announcing the 2018/19 Junior Club Captains.

Congratulations to Sam Stringer and Angelique Gleeson. You should both feel very proud of this significant achievement and we look forward to your involvement and leadership around the Club this season. Sam’s first duty as Junior Club Captain was to read the Blessing of the Fleet on Saturday.

Alistair Murray from Australian Sailing also spoke to the Members and guests and officially opened the season.

Invited guests and sponsors boarded Moonraker and enjoyed the spectacle of the traditional sail past, where the Club boats, dinghies and Couta boats sail past the Commodore (on board Moonraker) and give him three cheers on their way past.

Following this, racing got under way for the Sam Byrne & Ted Silbereisen Memorial Trophies and the Fred Allen Cup.

Thank you to everyone for participating in such a magical day of sunshine, good wind, friends and family. Have a great season 2018/19 everyone.
