Winter Series outshines Summer!

Glorious Winter Series kick off.

Sunday had good sailable forecasts but the actual conditions were even better than predicted. 10 Div 1 and 5 Div 2 boats got away cleanly with cautious downwind starts with boats on opposite gybes heading to South Mark.
The Foxtrot course was one of our new ones that run on a NW / SE axis between South and West and it provided true beats and runs, with boats on both Gybes downwind tackling the ebb tide. The fixed mark course ended up being a pretty true Windward leeward.
Div 1 had a 4 lap race with C2014 Jocelyn taking line honours in just over 70 minutes while C31 Lucy was the first Div 2 boat to sail the 3 lap course and finish in 65 minutes.
In Performance Handicap, the Mornington team in C170 sailed a great race with the least mistakes, while Sally Law trimmed C21 flawlessly in Duchess’ favourite conditions.
Handicap results were:
Div 1 – C170 April, C70 Jennifer, C2015 Georgia
Div 2 – C21 Duchess, C31 Lucy, C22 Mercury
On the deck sailors enjoyed a catch up refreshment and nibbles for the presentation. Scott took great pleasure in introducing the sailors to Kerry McNamara,  our tower regular who did the results solo this week and presented the prizes.
The series takes a break next week for Mothers Day and resumes on Sunday 20th May with an 11:00 warning signal.
