Policies & Procedures For Clubhouse COVID Safe Operations

The advice on managing COVID cases is continually evolving, and the announcement from the Federal and Victorian Governments on 30 December 2021 in relation to testing, isolating and the definition of close contacts, workplace contacts and social contacts means that as a Club and community we need to adjust again.

Going forward, in anticipation of future cases, we will move to providing details regarding any cases at the Club (where such details are available) on this page. If possible, we will contact any Members or guests who we are able to ascertain have been specifically exposed. As always, if you or a guest tests positive to COVID-19 and was infectious whilst visiting the Club, please advise us. We also encourage you to proactively contact your close and social contacts yourselves as soon as possible.

Updated 1 January 2022

This is the latest news with regards to COVID and how the recent cases will impact our operations at the Club.

Our A la Carte service, Galley and Couta’s are still operating. Couta Boat sailing is continuing but we will postpone the Learn To Sail (LTS) Program for the next two days and seek to recommence on the 5th.

Unfortunately, a few of our Sailing Instructors have tested positive when undergoing Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT). We believe these to be community transmissions but, we feel it is our responsibility to ensure that all children participating and our staff are kept safe.

We have at all times operated in accordance with the Club’s COVID Plan and all Government guidelines. No members of our team or LTS Program course participants are deemed to be Close Contacts under the most recent  guidelines agreed by National Cabinet this week.

National Cabinet agreed that close contacts will be defined “as household or household like contacts of a confirmed case. Close contacts will be defined as those who usually live with or stayed in the same household for more than four hours as a case during the infectious period”.

We ask you to advise us, if any of your children tests positive to COVID-19 as a result of participating in our Sail Training Program.

SSCBC follows all Victorian and Federal Government guidelines and remains committed to the health and wellbeing of all of our Members, guests and staff.

Updated 31 December 2021

The Club has been made aware that an employee who worked in our Sailing Centre on 27 – 30 December, has tested positive to COVID-19 with a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) as of today. Under the new regulations which came into effect at midnight last night, no one is considered a close contact, accordingly it is a matter of monitoring for symptoms and undergoing a RAT if symptomatic. Only if a RAT returns a positive result should a PCR test be obtained.

We have undertaken an assessment of the case utilising the State’s Contact assessment and management guidance: workplaces, business and industry COVID-19 Public Health Division Intelligence, Case Contact and Outbreak Management Version 3 30 December 2021 and the case is considered to be of Low Risk.

The employees were following standard COVID protocols and were wearing masks when indoors. No Cara na Mara activity was indoors at any point.

We ask you to advise us, if any of your children tests positive to COVID-19 as a result of participating in our Sail Training Program.
