B14 Nationals Wrap Up

The B14 Nationals were successfully held at the club 3-10 January. The first day of racing was scheduled for Friday the 4th, but with a Gale Warning issued the day before we made the early call at the Welcome dinner and cancelled racing the following day.

This worked well for everyone and the competitors started the regatta with a lay day.

On Saturday and Sunday, Mark Lloyd was race officer and caught up to the schedule by running 3 races a day and so the planned lay day for Monday was saved and the sailors had a pretty impressive BBQ on the western lawn and participate in some traditional mid-regatta festivities.

Peter Osbourne took over the Race Officer role for the final 2 days and one again we delivered great racing. We’re pretty pleased with the way we have been building consistent processes in our Race Committee teams and can swap people in and out.

On the deck or out on the race course we had a lot of sailing friends from McCrae Yacht club and it was pretty cool the way we all gelled and had fun together.

Sailing Shots were on hand to take photos and drone footage that looked really spectacular. Rhenny Cunningham is an excellent photographer, check out the shots here https://www.facebook.com/SailingShots/

The series had some epic racing and with multiple lead changes in the last race it all came down to the final beat with Scott Cunningham and Hugo Briggs holding off Guy Bancroft and Louis Chapman to take the title.
