Next Gen

Arguably the highlight of the season, this annual Couta Boat classic brings together young people with all different types of exposure to our incredible sport. More than a competition, the day is all about a mix of sailing, socialising and celebration which takes place in mid-January each year.

This pinnacle event includes post-race food, drinks, live music and comes with eligibility rules — an under 36 year old skipper plus either two crew under 26 years or three under 36. In recent years, the day has attracted more than 200 people spread across 40 Couta Boats and is often one of the most talked about days on the Bay.

Next Gen Committee

The Next Gen Committee strives to make Next Gen Day bigger and more memorable each year. The aim of the Committee has always been to keep current and past sailors and their friends connected with SSCBC and to our great sport.

Various social and sailing events are held throughout the year, particularly during the months of September to March. The sailing side consists of various formats including Couta Boat racing, passage racing and Teams Sailing, with something fun and suited to everyone.

New Committee members are always welcomed, bringing new ideas and further enhancing the experiences of Next Gen sailors.
