Coastal Living Couta Boat Race

Saturday was a really shifty West South Wester with the breeze not really settling anywhere and trends and phases were all over the place. At one stage during the start, the shift meant that boats couldn’t lay the pin. In the 10 minutes following the Warning Signal, the breeze had ranged across 40 degrees, and then a really solid burst of rain came through. But the top mark was sort of up upwind, they were the conditions for the day so the race kept going.

In Div 1, Lisa, Kate and Matilda made the best of the conditions, while in Div 2, it was Lucy, Duchess and Claire.

The second race was rolled into promptly and the breeze was still really shifty with the finish line out the front of the Club to the delight of the wedding party on Lavender Hill. With different challenges for that race, it turned up a new set of winners with Ripple, Jocelyn and Matilda coming to the podium Div 1, while Lucy and Duchess showed their consistency and Morning Star put together a solid race.

Despite the hard conditions, it was just great to be out racing again. Thank you to Coastal Living for their support over many years, the generous prizes for the winners and the post-race drinks on the deck.
