Week 6 – Online Rules Seminar: Other Rules

A boat is only exonerated for breaking a rule in specific circumstances, right-of-way boats can be penalised if they go too far taking more mark room than they are entitled to.

Rule 21 -Exoneration, never exonerates for damage by the right-of-way boat.

Rule 24.1 “If reasonably possible, a boat not racing shall not interfere with a boat that is racing” – This is a standard rule, not something that is inserted with a sailing instruction – Our most common issues with this is when some boats are starting and others are not.

The other rules in this section of Part 2 cover less common situations, but when they occur, we all need to know our rights and obligations.
