The She Sails programme seeks to increase female participation across all aspects of SSCBC activities. This includes:
- Opportunities for new and existing female members to engage in sailing and volunteering at SSCBC
- Building the skills and knowledge of female sailors and volunteers so they are confident and independent on and off the water
- Delivering high quality sailing experiences for SSCBC female members with a focus on the annual Lady Skippers Day and She Sails and Drives Ducks program more info below.
- Supporting the sailing committee to develop an inclusive sailing culture at SSCBC
- Developing opportunities for sailing and non-sailing female members to connect and foster the development of social groups/tribes
The programme aims to provide training and support for all levels of sailors and volunteers in a friendly and adaptable environment. Training includes the use of Couta Boats, Jubilees, Quest Race Boats, Pacers, Tenders and Motor Boats in local waters. While learning and gaining experience is the core aim of the programme, it also provides man social events and a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow club members.
SSCBC would like to thank many of the existing sailors across the sailing club for their support for this programme. This includes making their boats available and offering their time and knowledge.

This is a female only course, designed by women, for women. This course is mainly taught in our Club dinghies, tailored to the participants’ ability and their aim for the course. Extra to this, the Sailing Centre also runs Powerboat courses in an all-female environment.

Powerboat Courses are held throughout the year.
The course is the complete Australian Sailing Powerboat Handling course as part of the She Sails initiative, with a few changes to the delivery and format.
The course comprises as a mixture of classroom theory with video demonstration, shore side teaching about trailers and boat equipment and lots of on water work to master the competencies of boat handling.
The course includes an ebook which participants are encouraged to review in advance of the course.
